The hike might be arduous in a rainy season, mainly in the month of April to May and in November, but off-course it can rain at any other time of the year as it is in the high mountains. To go on a Rwanda gorilla trekking adventure requires good preparations from booking a gorilla permit, buying a trekking suit and shoes, attending a briefing session and finally the trekking itself.

You may ask yourself what do I need to put on before I go for a Rwanda gorilla trekking adventure. Gorilla trekking is not different from other hiking adventures. Only to bear in mind that gorillas mainly live in high mountains and sometimes it might be raining and making the jungle slippery and muddy. In this case, you need to have hiking boots and a raincoat. Some people put on gloves too. It is advisable to wear long trousers when you are going for a gorilla trekking adventure. A walking stick is provided for free at the ground if you need one.

Rwanda Gorilla trekking adventure may take between 2 and 6 hours depending on proximity of the gorilla family to visit, it is advisable to take some snacks or a packed lunch with you and drink water. Although it’s not compulsory, porters are available for a small fee to help you carry your backpack and give you a hand during tricky parts of the trek.
